Plot summary
Herman Howards is a sixteen-year-old in a not-so-distant United States. He walks into his suburban school and opens fire, killing two teachers, a police officer and thirty-nine students. Before he is arrested, he sends video clips of the attack to Lax Morales, a journalist he admires. The clips come from Herman's own camera, and in them he says he wants his story told on Lax's show. Herman is held in police custody, and Lax, haunted by his own past, meets him face to face. The film looks at what can lead to a massacre of this kind, from bullying and youth violence to the way media attention feeds a hunger for fame, and at the need for connection.
