Plot summary
James Belmont is a retired Army Special Forces veteran, and Odin is the German Shepherd who served as his military combat dog. Odin is traumatized by his service. Their seaplane goes down in the Alaskan wilderness, leaving the two of them stranded deep in freezing country with no rescue coming. Safety lies 58 miles away, and reaching it means covering the distance on foot, through unforgiving terrain and past deadly wildlife. Man and dog are also still carrying the shared trauma of the combat they survived together, and the loyalty between them is the bond the pair has to depend on.
