Plot summary
After the first Thanksgiving in 1621, a demonic turkey slays a Pilgrim woman. Five college students, Kristen, Johnny, Ali, Billy and Darren, drive home for Thanksgiving. Kristen calls her father, the sheriff, and the car overheats in Crawberg, so the group camps for the night. Darren tells the folktale of Feathercloud, a shaman dishonored by a pilgrim named Chuck Langston, one of Billy's ancestors, who made Turkie through necromancy; the tale says Turkie returns every five hundred and five years to kill the Caucasians he meets. A hermit's dog urinates on a totem pole and frees Turkie early.

- ThanksKilling was shot in 14 days on a budget of $3,500 by college students Jordan Downey, Kevin Stewart and Brad Schulz. The turkey puppet, Turkie, was handmade in Downey's apartment bathroom, most locations needed no permits, and casting took place in a garage.
- Nearly the entire cast of ThanksKilling was made up of the filmmakers' own families and friends working for free; porn star Wanda Lust was the only performer who was actually paid.
- A musical adaptation, ThanksKilling: The Musical, was created by Jeff Thomson, Jordan Mann and David Eck. It premiered in Seattle in 2013 and played off-Broadway at The Producers Club in New York in 2014 as part of the Festival of the Offensive.
