Plot summary
Forty years after Michael Myers terrorized Haddonfield, Laurie Strode lives with post-traumatic stress, her house fortified against his return. She has two failed marriages and lost custody of her daughter Karen, who was taken from her at twelve. Karen's daughter Allyson tries to stay close to her grandmother. True crime journalists Aaron Korey and Dana Haines interview Michael at Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where Dr. Ranbir Sartain tells them Michael is capable of speech but refuses to talk. They later visit Laurie, offering money for an interview. Michael is being moved to a maximum security facility. During the transfer, the bus crashes and Michael escapes. Laurie learns of the escape and tries to warn Karen, but Karen waves off her warnings. On Halloween night, Allyson attends a party while Laurie patrols the streets, waiting for Michael to return.
