Plot summary
Andie calls her longtime friend Lizzie late one night, and in the morning Lizzie's husband Peter finds her at breakfast. At couples therapy with Dr. Grayson, Peter complains that Andie knew about Lizzie's plans for a fourth IVF treatment before he did. Andie, pregnant after a one-night stand, cannot face an abortion and offers to give the baby to Lizzie and Peter. Peter calls the idea crazy. Andie stays over after her birthday, Lizzie has him listen to the heartbeat, and he comes around to the adoption. Andie moves in because she is alone, and Peter is not happy about it. Peter, a real estate agent, has not sold a house in a while and cannot pay the mortgage; Andie offers to borrow the money from her father, and he reluctantly accepts.
