Plot summary
Years after their time in Spurbury, the men have scattered: Farva oversees construction work with Mac and Rabbit on his crew, Thorny is in logging, and Foster shares a home with his girlfriend Ursula. A call from Captain O'Hagen brings them together for what he describes as a fishing trip in Canada. Once there, Vermont Governor Jessman explains that a recent land survey placed a Canadian town on American soil, and Canada has agreed to hand the region over. She wants the group back in uniform as the new highway patrol, with full-time jobs if they succeed. At a reception, the townspeople make clear they want to stay Canadian, and mayor Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player, leads the hostility. The men also meet cultural attaché Genevieve Aubois.
