Plot summary
Testifying in a crowded courtroom, Stan and Ollie help convict the gangster Butch Long, and the judge thanks them for their part in it. Stan asks whether Butch is to be hanged. Butch is given a life sentence and, held in a straitjacket, threatens the pair with revenge for informing on him. Unsettled, Stan and Ollie decide to leave town and advertise in a newspaper for a companion to share their traveling expenses. The woman who replies is Mary, Butch's girlfriend. Butch has escaped from police custody and is hiding in her apartment when the two arrive to meet her.
