Plot summary

Ray Winter has left Carly, his wife, for another man, and his son Franky, a swimmer at his school, refuses to speak to him even when Ray reaches out. Franky's best friend since childhood is Ballas Kohl, a fellow swimmer. Ballas has a girlfriend, Jess, and he boasts about how often the two of them have sex. Ballas pressures Franky to sleep with Priscilla, Franky's girlfriend, and Franky's seventeenth birthday party is coming up. Franky also has a friend named Mouse, who is gender questioning, and a sister named Deanne. An unexpected incident during that night upends both boys' friendships, their families and their romances.
