Plot summary

Cousins Fred and Warren share a house in Hollywood, and Fred, who works in special effects and animatronics, is determined to shoot his first horror movie inside it. Warren has the male lead and will not stop flirting with Laurie, the actress cast opposite him, so she quits and the production falls apart while the bills go unpaid. Warren is then called to the reading of their grandfather's will, and the cousins are left an old clock. A spirit lives in the clock, the spirit of Louis, the butler who once served the family, and it makes itself known to Fred in the night.
