Plot summary
Maxwell Smart has served as CONTROL's protocol officer since the agency was disbanded, and Commander Drury now reactivates him as a counterintelligence agent. KAOS, long thought gone, has been revived and has turned a forgotten American scientist's weather machine toward extorting $250 billion from the government. Drury gives Smart a free hand to recall former CONTROL agents, and Beamish, the commander's aide, accompanies him. Smart brings back Larrabee, who has been living in his old office, Agent 13 and Hymie, a robot working as a crash test dummy, and at last his wife, 99. They must track down the leak behind the scientist's defection and shut the weather machine down, while a KAOS mole inside the agency anticipates Smart's every move.
