Plot summary
The burglar Harry Dean and his friend Emile Fournier, a sculptor, need the showgirl Nicole Chang for a plan. They find her at a Hong Kong nightclub, and she resembles both the Li Su, a priceless bust of an ancient Chinese empress, and the late wife of Ahmad Shahbandar, the world's richest man, who keeps the statue in his collection. Emile has made a copy to put in its place, and Nicole's part is to draw an invitation to the penthouse where the bust is kept. Nicole questions the five thousand dollars offered for an unnamed job. The promise of an authentic British passport settles it, and in the Middle Eastern city of Dammuz she and Harry check into Shahbandar's hotel as Sir Harold and Lady Nicole Dean.
