Than Wyenn

Than Wyenn was an American character actor with a career that stretched across more than four decades and included upward of 150 film and television credits. Born in New York City, he studied acting as a teenager under Michael Chekhov and Lee Strasberg and toured with a Shakespearean troupe. After moving to Los Angeles following World War II, he took the lead in the premiere of Baruch Lumet's play Once Upon a Tailor at The Circle Theater; the role earned him an agent and launched his screen work. On film he played Romano in Imitation of Life (1959), appeared in Beginning of the End (1957), Pete Kelly's Blues, and later played Mr. Ambrose in Splash. His television roles included the villain Paul Johnson in the 1960 Twilight Zone episode Execution, a guest part on Combat! in 1965, and many other series. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences admitted him as a voting member in 1966.
