Arnold Moss

Arnold Moss was an American actor whose work ranged across classical and character roles, directing, producing, writing, and narrating. Born in Brooklyn, he attended Boys High School, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from City College of New York in Latin and Greek, took a master's in Old French at Columbia University and later a doctorate in theater at New York University. His first acting came in college, followed by a two-year apprenticeship with the Eva Le Gallienne Apprentice Group. He began on stage with Le Gallienne's Civic Repertory, first in Peter Pan (1929), became known for Shakespeare roles including Prospero in The Tempest, which ran 124 Broadway performances in 1945, and Malvolio in Twelfth Night, and played Dimitri Weismann in the original Broadway production of Follies. He appeared in films such as Kim (1950) and The 27th Day (1957), and on television in Star Trek. He also directed, produced, wrote about theater, and narrated for orchestras.
