Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Elvis Presley was declared persona non grata by Mexican authorities after violent riots at the openings of his films King Creole and G.I. Blues, so a stunt double was used for him in Acapulco and Presley filmed his own shots in March 1963 at the Paramount studios in Los Angeles.
- Decades later it emerged that the false 1957 quote about Presley that set off the ban was planted by Ernesto Peralta Uruchurtu, the Regent of Mexico City, as revenge after Presley's Los Angeles office returned his blank check for an appearance at a media mogul's daughter's 15th birthday bash.
