Plot summary
James Reese works as an aide in the office of the American ambassador in Paris, and he does small jobs for the CIA while hoping for a place in the field. He is sent to collect Charlie Wax at the airport, where French customs has stopped Wax over the energy drink cans in his luggage, which hold pieces of his personal sidearm. Wax describes his assignment in Paris as an investigation into a Triad drug ring, and he pulls Reese along as he works through the city. Wax is loud, foul-mouthed and quick to violence, and the purpose of the operation stays unclear to Reese.
