Alexandra Boyd
Biography
Alexandra Boyd is a British actress, screenwriter, director and producer whose career began on stage. Born in Bangor, Wales, and raised in Norwich, Norfolk, she trained at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey, and co-founded a theater company that staged Shakespeare and adapted classics. Her screen roles include Sarah Olmsted in Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) and the Chief of Delegation in From Paris with Love (2010), and she appeared in Titanic. On television she played Clarissa Mason on Coronation Street and guest starred in Doctors, New Tricks and Holby City, and she voiced Elaine Marley in several Monkey Island games. Her debut feature as writer-director, the supernatural thriller Widow's Walk, premiered at the 2019 Chelsea Film Festival and took an award for cinematography. She also made the short Boxer on the Wilderness.

Early training
Boyd trained at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom from age 16, then joined the postgraduate acting course at Drama Studio, London in 1986.
A change of course
Boyd co-founded a theater company. It staged Shakespeare and adapted classics at the London and Edinburgh Fringe, and it also produced English plays for Italy.
Beyond film
Boyd voiced Elaine Marley across several Monkey Island games, including The Curse of Monkey Island, Tales of Monkey Island and Return to Monkey Island.
Behind the camera
Boyd's first feature film as writer, director and producer was Widow's Walk, a supernatural thriller. The movie is set and shot in Suffolk, where she was born.

Alexandra Boyd asked her fellow supporting actors to keep diaries in 1998, while filming and after. Those diaries became Ship of Dreams: Titanic Movie Diaries, which explores her time on James Cameron's Titanic.
