Plot summary
Chloe Lewis is seven and has lived her whole life in a run-down house. Her father, Henry, will not let her go out, and he tells her the bad men would kill her if she did. She has never met her mother, Mary, and she longs for someone to mother her. Henry teaches her how to behave so she could one day pass as a child of the Reed family next door. Chloe wants to see the world outside.
