Plot summary
More than two decades after her own swap, Anna Coleman produces music and brings up her teenage daughter Harper on her own, with her mother Tess close by. Harper is annoyed by Lily Reyes, a new classmate with a snobbish manner. A chemistry-class incident brings Anna to the principal's office, where she meets Lily's widowed father, Eric. Anna and Eric fall in love and are engaged half a year later. The two girls resent the coming merger: Harper fears a move to London, and Lily wants to go back there for a fashion academy in her late mother's honor. At Anna's bachelorette party, a supposed psychic, Madame Jen, gives palm readings, and the four women feel an earthquake that no one else notices.

- Disney first planned to send Freakier Friday straight to streaming, but Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan pushed for a cinema release, and Curtis pointed to the strong audience reception of Barbie (2023) to help persuade the executives.
