Plot summary

Molly Wheeler is thirty-one and has been addicted for over a decade, ever since doctors gave her seventy-five oxycodone pills to treat a sprained knee. She has lost custody of her children, and this is her fifteenth attempt at recovery. A year after last seeing her mother, Deb, she arrives at Deb's house, insists she is ready to stop, and asks to stay a few days before detox. Deb is torn; with her husband Chris beside her, she refuses, afraid that any help she gives makes her an enabler. Molly sleeps outside and keeps asking. The next morning Deb takes her to detox. Four days in, Molly is offered naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, but she must stay off drugs four more days before the first shot, then take a shot each month.
