Plot summary
The United States and a South American ally form a joint task force against a drug cartel that smuggles narcotics into the country. An Army air assault on the cartel's mountain compound is repelled by Eric Stoller, a mercenary pilot flying a modified MD 500 Defender known as the Scorpion. His helicopter shoots down UH-60 Black Hawks and hits their AH-1 Cobra escorts. Jake Preston, the sole surviving Cobra pilot, retreats. The Army plans to deploy four AH-64 Apaches, whose maneuverability and firepower can match the Scorpion's. Preston joins an Apache air-to-air combat course run by instructor Brad Little.
