Plot summary
One year after Flight 180 exploded, Kimberly Corman is on her way to Daytona Beach with Shaina, Dano and Frankie for spring break. On the entrance ramp to Route 23 she sees a logging truck set off a chain of collisions, and she stops her car, blocking the drivers behind her from the road. Eight people are kept off the highway, among them state trooper Thomas Burke, Eugene Dix, Rory Peters, Kat Jennings, Nora Carpenter and Tim, Evan Lewis and Isabella Hudson. The crash happens behind them and a car carrier strikes Kimberly's car; Burke drags her out. That same day one of the eight dies in a freak accident at home, and Kimberly asks Clear Rivers, the only survivor of Flight 180, who lives in a psychiatric ward, to help.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Final Destination 2 (2003)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Devon Sawa's Alex Browning, a lead of the first Final Destination, was killed off-screen in the sequel; rumors of a contract dispute over his salary were dismissed by producer Craig Perry as purely a narrative choice.
- Effects studio Digital Dimension was mainly picked for Final Destination 2's highway pile-up after the crew found that real logs dropped from a logging truck bounced only about an inch off the road; CG supervisor Jason Crosby worked on the sequence.
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead auditioned for a role in Final Destination 2 because she was a fan of the first film, was not cast, and went on to play Wendy Christensen in Final Destination 3.
- Michael Landes said the lake scenes were shot in 37-degree cold while the underwater tank work was done in a 93-degree pool, and that he and A. J. Cook performed their own stunts in both.
- Lifecasts of the actors were made for every death scene in Final Destination 2, including the highway pile-up, and Michael Landes suffered claustrophobia during the procedure.
- A. J. Cook had to dye her hair brown to play Kimberly Corman so viewers would not confuse her with co-stars Ali Larter and Sarah Carter.
