Plot summary
A car lies at the bottom of a river in 1946 Australia, and the Sea Dog Diving Company takes the job of finding it and bringing it up. The company is a struggling outfit, and its divers work in standard diving dress. A female bull shark holds the water. Aggressive and territorial, she keeps the crew from the car, and the salvage stalls.

- Filming on Fear Below was shut down after only days when severe flooding from the Murray River hit Echuca and Moama, the towns where the production was based. The cast and crew were evacuated as their locations flooded, and shooting was suspended until a new site was found.
- To stage Fear Below's many underwater diving sequences, the filmmakers used extensive dry for wet techniques, with the characters wearing standard diving dress equipment. The bull shark sequences were largely created with practical effects and miniatures, both on location and in the studio.
