Plot summary
Anna Marchant teaches elementary school and shares an apartment with her boyfriend Bryce. She often meets her friends Francine and Nina for drinks. Walking across a bridge to meet Bryce, she sees a serial killer known as Tearjerker Jack murder a woman. He chases her, she falls from the bridge and hits her head. She spends a week in a coma and wakes with brain damage and prosopagnosia, a face blindness that leaves her able to recognize objects but not faces. Detective Sam Kerrest presses her to recall the killer's face. The killer knows she saw him, and she cannot recognize Bryce or her closest friends.
