Plot summary
It is 1999 at Middleview High School, a fictional school in Calgary, Alberta. The boys basketball team loses far more games than it wins, and another one is coming up. The story follows several people on the edges of that game rather than the game itself. A referee working the game has been made to look after his wife's dog. Joel, the team's point guard, keeps pressing his teammates to take up the ideas of The Matrix. The theater students asked to mount a post-colonial King Lear, were refused, and are organizing a protest. Brent serves as the team's assistant coach.
