Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Eragon (2006)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Late in production the crew added feathers to the bat-like wings of the CGI dragon Saphira, inspired by the Angel's wings in X-Men: The Last Stand; ILM lead viewpaint artist Jean Bolte called them "skethers", half-feathers and half-scales, drawn from the pangolin.
- Alex Pettyfer was among those considered for the role, but since production took place in central Europe and Pettyfer is afraid of flying, he declined it.
- Christopher Paolini, author of the original novel, wanted a cameo as a warrior who is beheaded in the battle of Farthen Dur, but he was unable to appear because of his European book tour.
- Eragon was meant to be the first of a franchise, with Fangmeier shooting Eldest and Brisingr back-to-back, but following the poor critical reception and box-office performance the planned sequels were not produced.
- Around 2021, fans tweeted #EragonRemake to get Disney, the rights holders after their acquisition of 21st Century Fox, to revamp the series for Disney+; the hashtag trended within hours and Paolini joined the movement himself.
- Avril Lavigne recorded the film's theme song "Keep Holding On", released as a single in 2006, which peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was later included on her 2007 album The Best Damn Thing.
