Plot summary
A documentary in five chronological parts about the first three Star Wars films. It opens with the early career of the man who created them and follows him through the 1976 shoot of the first, then turns to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and the effect the three had on popular culture. Cast and crew members describe the model making, visual effects, sound, music and editing that shaped them. Journalists and a cultural historian set the trilogy in a social and political context, and archive footage shows actors trying out for the leading roles. It was produced as a bonus disc for a DVD box set of the trilogy, and a shorter version premiered on television.
