Elyse (2020) on Netflix

Plot summary

Elyse Bridges looks poised and intelligent to the outside world, but she struggles with clinical depression and borderline personality disorder. She lives with her husband, Steven, in a white concrete designer house in Los Angeles. She spends a long day wandering before returning home, fragile and disoriented, and will not join the family dinner, which she reads as a threat to her marriage. She rejects Steven's concern, grows agitated, and lashes out at her mother, Goldie Madison. After a psychotic break she is estranged from Steven and placed in a psychiatric facility, where memory, hallucination and delusion interweave. Dr. Philip Lewis, her psychiatrist, treats her, and David Gabriel, her nurse, cares for her.
