Plot summary
In 1870, five former Confederate soldiers leave Texas for Colombia: Sergeant Will Hansen, Ike, Hank, Jeb and Billy. Colombian soldiers ambush them on arrival and take them to General Martinez, the country's dictator. He sends them to San Carlos, where rebel forces are preparing to rise against his army, and orders them to settle among the rebels and send word of what they find within a couple of days. He warns that failure brings severe punishment. On the road the men meet a gypsy family traveling to the same town, and Will takes an interest in the daughter, Mila. In San Carlos the men rent a cabin outside town.
