Plot summary
In the early 1960s, Americans Walter, Marion and Susan Hollander are touring behind the Iron Curtain. A photograph Walter takes of a sunset draws the attention of the local authorities, who treat it as espionage. To keep the family out of jail, they seek shelter in the American Embassy, where the ambassador is away and the post is held by his son, Axel Magee, whose diplomatic judgment is slight.
