Biography

Brian McConnachie was an American comedy writer and actor who also wrote children's books. He was born in Manhattan and raised in Forest Hills, Queens. He was a main writer for National Lampoon in the early 1970s before he joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 1978. He won an Emmy Award in 1982 for his work on SCTV, after an Emmy nomination in 1979 for Saturday Night Live. He also wrote episodes of Noddy and Shining Time Station, plus an episode of The Simpsons. As an actor, he appeared in seven Woody Allen films, among them Husbands and Wives (1992) and Don't Drink the Water (1994). His other screen credits included Strange Brew (1983), Caddyshack, Quick Change (1990), and People I Know (2002). He died in 2024.
