Frederick Rolf
Biography
Frederick Rolf is an American actor and director who has worked in film, theater, television and opera. Born in Berlin in 1926, he left Germany for England in 1939. He became an actor in 1946 and made his stage debut in Trelawny of the Wells with the West Riding Theatre in Halifax. After moving to the United States, he appeared on Broadway opposite Uta Hagen in Saint Joan, with Helen Hayes and Richard Burton in Time Remembered, and played Capt. Arago in The Strong Are Lonely. His film credits include Witness (1985) with Harrison Ford and Street Smart (1987) with Morgan Freeman, and he has been a regular on television shows such as Law & Order and All My Children. He has also directed Off-Broadway plays and operas including Aida and Fidelio, and translated plays by Ibsen and Schiller.
