Plot summary
In London, Jade is putting her life back together around her toddler daughter, Rae, after an acid attack left her with severe burns and a reconstructed face that frightens the child. Her mother and her friends support her, though she feels awkward back at her regular clubbing nights, and she is told that her healing has gone as far as it will. She contacts a surgeon in Morocco who might rebuild her face; her mother will not lend her the money, so she takes a job at a call center, where she becomes friends with Flavia, another single mother.
