Plot summary
Leon and Bobby Anthony are brothers in the Deuces, a street gang that watches over its neighborhood in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Their youngest brother, Alphonse, known as Allie Boy, died of a heroin overdose, and the Deuces now keep drugs off the block, which sets them against the Vipers, a rival gang that wants to sell there. Marco, the Vipers' leader, is coming home from a three-year prison term, and Philly, a Vipers bookie, has taken over a vacant nightclub down the street. Across from Bobby's home a new girl moves in: Annie, younger sister of Jimmy "Pockets", a Viper and heroin dealer who looks after their mother. Bobby and Annie are drawn to each other, though Leon fears she may be using his brother.
