Plot summary
Larry, Bill and Everett are three friends with little going for them: Larry lost a waiter's job, Bill lives on a lawsuit settlement, and Everett was fired from a police force. Once a month they report to an Army Reserve center, where the duties amount to drinking and partying. A manpower shortage sends the three to Fallujah, and the hard-nosed Sergeant Kilgore is assigned to get them ready. After a short training period they ship out. Over northern Mexico a thunderstorm leads the transport pilots to dump cargo to lighten the plane, and the three, asleep in a Humvee, go with it, along with Kilgore. They wake up believing the drop has put them in Iraq.
