Plot summary
Willy Loman sells for a company that has him on the road, and he comes home exhausted after a trip is called off. Linda, his wife, thinks he should ask to work in his own city, and she worries about his state of mind and a car crash. Their son Biff is visiting, and Willy complains that Biff, once a promising high school athlete who failed senior math and never reached college, has still made nothing of himself. Willy slips into memories of his past, among them his late brother Ben, and speaks to the people in them as if they were present. Biff and Happy, both visiting, talk about their father while remembering their childhood. Told the two have amounted to nothing, they say Biff has a business proposition to make the next day.
