Plot summary
Carl Fitzgerald is a reserved man with no steady work. He lives in Brunswick, a Melbourne suburb, and lands a job as a chef at a Greek restaurant and nightclub run by Yanni Voulgaris. There he meets the barmaid Sophie Papafagos, and their relationship brings Carl trouble with his employer and with Sophie's strict father. Mustafa, a Turkish-Australian coworker who deals drugs, is beaten by the bouncer Laurie; convinced Carl informed on him, Mustafa confronts him. The confrontation leaves Mustafa dead, and Carl turns to his friend Dave, a gravedigger; the two of them set out to get rid of the body.
