Plot summary
Karl's last request sends his widow Barb to remote Lake Hilda in northern Minnesota, the lake where they had their first date, to scatter his ashes there. A snowstorm drives her to a nearby cabin for directions, where a man in a camouflage jacket tells her the blood on the snow came from a deer. At the lake she sees Leah, her hands bound, break away from that same man before he catches her. Barb slips back to the cabin, finds the girl chained in the basement, and hears the man talking with his wife, Purple Lady. With no phone service and no town for hours, Barb has no one to call for help.
