Plot summary
Katie McGovern shares a cramped apartment in New York City with her husband, Rob Sweeney, who is out of work. After an audition, the meek Mr. Murray hires her on the spot and drives her upstate through a snowstorm to a secluded mansion. There Dr. Joseph Lewis, a producer who uses a wheelchair, explains that Katie is to replace Julie Rose, an actress who suffered a breakdown while shooting a film. Katie's strong resemblance to Julie lets them combine footage already shot with new scenes. The house phone has no dial tone, and Lewis blames the storm. The next day Mr. Murray dyes and cuts Katie's hair to look like Julie's photographs.
