Plot summary

At the world's beginning, the first woman, Lilith, refuses Adam's claim to be above her and is turned into an immortal demoness. A secret society, the Faith, comes into being to hunt her, and when she is captured her memory and her power are blocked and she lives with a foster family under the name Elle. In the present, the scientist Anders Raeborne uses an extract of Lilith's blood while experimenting with immortality and turns into the Demonicus, a beast whose bite and tongue carry a red plague. The Faith's leaders, the Prefect and Chapel, order Chief Agent William Shaw to help Lilith recover her memories and train her to face the creature.
