Plot summary
Katie and Adam are a married couple behind on their bills. She waits tables while he goes to school, and when a robber tries to hold up the diner where she works, Adam fights him off. Katie finds new work looking after Leonard, a well-off elderly man in Chicago, and the two grow close. Told about her money troubles, Leonard insists on helping her out, and she persuades him to hire Adam as his gardener instead. Mickey Hayden, who says he is a real estate agent, tells Katie a client wants to buy the house. She says it is not for sale, and he begins watching the couple.
