Plot summary
William "Spooky" MacPherson is a special operations Marine who was wounded during combat in Iraq and left disabled. He comes to the Southwestern United States to visit a friend who lives on a ranch there. The friend and his family have vanished by the time MacPherson arrives, and no one in the town will acknowledge that the friend ever lived there. The townspeople are afraid to answer his questions about the disappearance.
