Plot summary
A perfect SAT score and a 4.0 average are not enough for Duncan Pinderhughes: Hafford University will admit him only if he passes phys ed. Duncan has been getting ready for graduation and is disheartened by that requirement. Michael Brown, known as Blade, is an ex-convict released from jail, and his parole officer tells him that satisfactory graduation from high school is the condition of his release. A mishap swaps their photographs on their permanent school records. Blade is placed in gifted classes, while Duncan lands in a room where the conditions are poor and his classmates are troublemakers.
