Plot summary
Reena is a young Indian American lesbian living in New York City, where she works. Her sister Sarita is married, and when Sarita learns that she is infertile, Reena offers to serve as a surrogate and carry the child herself. Sarita and her husband accept. Reena's mother Meenu has never approved of her daughter's sexual orientation, and she has also found it hard to accept the American lives both of her daughters lead. Reena makes the offer in the hope that the baby will bring her closer to Meenu. Reena's girlfriend Lisa is part of her life in the city, and the plan affects the two of them too.
