Plot summary
As a flight attendant, Sydney has a tropical Christmas planned. On a flight she looks after Leah, a young girl traveling alone, and brings her home to Chicago to her father, Jonathan. Outgoing flights are scarce, and Sydney, who lived in Chicago as a child, is stuck in the city for several days, spending them with Jonathan, Leah and their family. Jonathan, a widower who works as an investigative reporter, offers a trade: he will help her learn how her late parents first met, and she will help him write the Christmas story that keeps his job. She also hunts for a connecting flight that would take her on to her holiday.
