Plot summary
Penelope, a young hairdresser, learns that her vagina can speak when it mocks a lover's performance, and he storms out. At the salon, the voice insults a client, who takes the remark as Penelope coming on to her, and Penelope loses her job. She visits a psychiatrist, Dr. Pearl, and tells him what is happening. In his office the voice shows a second talent, singing, and a taste for show tunes. Dr. Pearl lets friends in show business in on the secret and takes over as her agent, starting Penelope and the voice, named Virginia, on an entertainment career despite her protests.
