Plot summary
The Chief of the Secret Service has only one agent left to send after STENCH, the Society for the Total Extinction of Non-Conforming Humans, steals a top secret chemical formula. That agent is the bumbling Desmond Simpkins, and he is given three trainees: Harold Crump, Daphne Honeybutt and Charlie Bind. The four travel separately to Vienna, where each is to make contact with Carstairs, who meets them in a different disguise every time. Their trail then leads to Algiers, where STENCH's men, the Fat Man and Milchmann, are never far behind. The agents carry gadgets and travel under disguises of their own, though none of them has much idea of how a real agent behaves.

- Producer Albert R. Broccoli, who made the James Bond films, objected to a character originally named "James Bind agent 006½" written for Charles Hawtrey and threatened to sue, so producer Peter Rogers renamed him Charlie with the joke code number "double 0 - ohh!"
- The film's poster had to be redrawn by artist Tom Chantrell after complaints that his artwork looked too close to Renato Fratini's poster for the real Bond film From Russia with Love.
