Plot summary
Two teenage best friends, Doe and Muna, keep their plan to themselves. Doe came to Britain from Somalia as a refugee when she was three and has not traveled since. Muna, who has Pakistani roots, is sharp and fearless. Islamophobic discrimination at school has pushed them toward a decision they believe will give their lives purpose: a flight to Istanbul and a crossing into Syria to join ISIS. Muna guides them through airport security, and together they reach the city. The fixer they were told to meet never shows up. Stranded, with no way back and no one they can turn to, they must improvise, and fast, before anyone at home realizes they have gone.
