Plot summary
Mike Randall is an artist who draws the comic strip Brenda Starr for a newspaper, and he is not doing well. Brenda steps out of the strip, finds that Mike does not value her work, and walks away from the comic. Mike draws himself into the strip to bring her back and save his job. Inside her fictional world, Brenda is the New York Flash's star reporter, talented, fearless and sharp-dressed. Her only competition comes from Libby Lipscomb, the top reporter at a rival paper. Brenda travels to the Amazon jungle, hunting a scientist whose formula turns ordinary water into cheap, powerful fuel. She has to take that formula from Libby and from foreign spies.
