Plot summary
Sofie Talbert is an American journalist whose reporting takes a stand against illegal immigration into the United States. Word reaches her that her brother, living in Mexico, has gone missing, so she crosses the border herself to find him. What she meets there is the trade in people moving north across the United States/Mexican line, and the violence that comes with it. The men and women who make the attempt put their lives at risk to reach American soil. Some have already traveled from Central America into Mexico before pushing on, a second uprooting that leaves them exposed to more danger than the first.
