Plot summary
A celebrated playwright, Harold Blumenthal, died of cardiac arrest while laughing at one of his own jokes, having spent his career parodying his family in his plays. His estranged and jealous brother Saul is left to confront his personal hang-ups, among them an epic bout of constipation. Saul's wife Cheryl and son Ethan have obstacles of their own, met in circumstances so improbably ironic that they could have come straight out of one of Harold's plays.
